ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
Licensed Site Professional Services
For projects in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, OHI Engineering, Inc. offers Licensed Site Professional services to ensure that the work is completed in accordance with the Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP). We have the technical knowledge and experience to define and remediate existing problems, meet regulatory criteria, implement management plans and use treatment technologies that work. The issues at a given site are identified and evaluated to assess the nature and extent of the environmental impact. We work within our clients’ business plan and limitations to recommend sound remediation and/or investigative techniques that are proven and cost-effective. We have provided services for sites impacted by a wide-range of contaminants including petroleum products, chlorinated solvents, PCBs, metals, and other industrial chemicals.
OHI often incorporates Site-specific Risk Based Cleanup Actions (RBCA), where clean up levels are established by the extent of risk to public health, safety, welfare and the environment, when applicable in order to keep costs in check while being sufficiently protective to human health, welfare, safety and to the environment.
RBCAs result in establishing a site specific clean up goal incorporating site use, zoning, and specific site conditions, which can often save our clients both time and money.
Environmental Assessments for Property TransfersOHI Engineering, Inc. has extensive experience in conducting environmental assessments for property transfers including commercial/industrial, manufacturing, warehousing and residential properties. Environmental site assessments are regularly prepared in conformance with regulatory agency and private institution requirements prior to property transfers and for construction projects including utility and building projects. Information gained during an initial historical and records review allows us to make sound judgments regarding the appropriate level of investigation at a specific site.
Environmental assessments are also critical for construction projects. Determining areas where impacted soil, sediment, surface water and/or groundwater may be encountered is useful in engineering design and review of engineering alternatives. OHI Engineering, Inc. provides on-site services when impacts are encountered and develops cost effective measures to respond to the particular situation, while ensuring that construction can proceed with as little delay and additional cost as feasible.
BrownfieldsOur environmental expertise coupled with our significant experience with civil engineering/infrastructure design makes OHI Engineering, Inc uniquely qualified to provide assessment, remediation and design services for Brownfields projects. We have been involved in residential housing, commercial and industrial projects that reuse abandoned, often contaminated, former industrial properties. We are familiar with funding mechanisms to aid our clients in obtaining funds necessary to complete these projects and local permitting processes. We are able to assist the owner with administering construction and remediation contractors and can also provide turn-key services if desired.
Remediation ServicesOHI Engineering, Inc. has expertise in a wide range of remediation services including emergency response coordination, oversight of contaminated soil excavation with both on-site stabilization and off-site disposal, and design of air sparge, dual phase extraction, product recovery, and bioremediation systems. We strive to find the best system for our clients, and do not try to force fit a single technology to Sites with different requirements. Our personnel have experience in developing specifications for bidding purposes, overseeing installation, and in providing turnkey design, installation, operation and maintenance services.
Industrial Compliance Services
As the field of waste management continues to grow in complexity, effective, cost-efficient solutions are sought to manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste, as well as products that pose a liability if mishandled. Compliance with the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) passed in 1986, OSHA, EPCRA and the Clean Air Act, and continually evolving state regulations necessitate the use of competent, knowledgeable and experienced waste management professionals to manage complex waste and disposal-site issues. OHI Engineering, Inc. can assist clients in preparing Remedial Investigation Feasibility Studies (RI/FS), in preparing waste site investigations, conducting facility compliance audits, and achieving and maintaining facility compliance.
Hydrogeological and Geotechnical Services
OHI Engineering, Inc. offers a broad range of services in the earth sciences and related disciplines through expertise in hydrogeology and engineering geology. These disciplines are complimentary, particularly in hazardous waste evaluations and groundwater contamination studies, wastewater discharge, underground utility construction and site drainage projects. We also provide pre-construction geotechnical assessments, site design, and construction oversight. This expertise allows us to use a multidisciplinary approach to identify issues that have the potential to hinder or even halt a project before construction begins.Engineering Services
